Boyd Athletics Brings Clinical Experience and Master’s Degree Expertise to Fitness and Nutrition in Palm Desert
Husband-and-wife team combines advanced expertise in exercise science, evidence-based training and Registered Dietitian nutrition care under one roof — celebrating its Palm Desert grand opening October 15–16
PALM DESERT, Calif. — September 2026 — Boyd Athletics, a locally owned fitness and nutrition facility founded by husband-and-wife team Josh and Sarah Boyd, is bringing a different approach to health and fitness to the Coachella Valley — one built on advanced education, clinical experience and evidence-based practice.
With master’s degrees in Exercise Science and Nutrition Science, Josh and Sarah created Boyd Athletics to bridge the gap between knowing what is good for your health and having the professional guidance to actually put it into practice. Their approach brings exercise, nutrition and sustainable lifestyle habits together rather than treating each as a separate piece of health.
The Boyds’ professional backgrounds include experience in clinical healthcare settings, including Loma Linda University Medical Center, where their work in cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation reinforced the importance of what happens beyond the clinical setting. Exercise, nutrition and everyday habits can have a profound impact on long-term health, yet making meaningful, lasting changes often requires more than simply being told what to do.
That experience helped shape the philosophy behind Boyd Athletics: your health is defined by how you move, what you eat and the habits you build over time.
Josh Boyd, MS, CPT, holds a master’s degree in Exercise Science and brings his background in exercise physiology and clinical rehabilitation to personal training and group fitness. His approach emphasizes individualized programming, proper movement and progressive training, helping clients understand not only what they are doing, but why they are doing it.
Sarah Boyd, MS, RDN, holds a master’s degree in Nutrition Science and is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with clinical experience providing evidence-based nutrition care and medical nutrition therapy.
The distinction is particularly important in nutrition, where credentials can be confusing for consumers. In California, there is no standardized education or training requirement to use the general title “nutritionist.” In contrast, becoming a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist requires accredited education, supervised professional training, successful completion of a national credentialing examination and ongoing continuing education.
“We created Boyd Athletics because we believe people deserve qualified professionals they can trust with their health,” said Sarah Boyd. “This isn’t about temporary fixes. We want to give people the knowledge, guidance and tools to take control of their health, make changes that last and continue feeling and performing their best for years to come.”
Boyd Athletics offers one-on-one personal training, small-group fitness classes, open gym memberships and individualized nutrition counseling. Its Strength, Sweat and Restore classes are intentionally designed to complement one another, combining progressive strength training, cardiovascular conditioning, mobility and recovery to create a balanced approach to exercise that helps members build strength, improve cardiovascular fitness, move well and support their long-term health.
The newly renovated Palm Desert facility combines personalized coaching with thoughtfully selected strength and cardiovascular equipment, heart-rate monitoring technology and dedicated spaces for strength training, conditioning and mobility. Programs are designed to meet clients where they are — whether they want to become stronger, improve athletic performance, manage a health condition, improve their nutrition or simply feel better and more confident in what they are doing.
Boyd Athletics will celebrate the official grand opening of its Palm Desert facility with two days of free community events on Thursday, October 15 and Friday, October 16, 2026.
Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting — Thursday, October 15
The community is invited to celebrate on Thursday, October 15, from 4:30–6:30 p.m. at Boyd Athletics, 41651 Corporate Way, Suite 6, Palm Desert, CA 92260.
The celebration will include a ribbon cutting with the Palm Desert Area Chamber of Commerce, tours of the newly renovated facility, an opportunity to meet Josh and Sarah and learn more about Boyd Athletics’ programs, along with free prizes and giveaways.
The first 50 guests will also receive a complimentary smoothie from Bowl of Heaven. Free Nutrition Seminar — Friday, October 16
The grand opening celebration continues Friday, October 16, from 3:30–4:30 p.m. with a complimentary community nutrition seminar led by Sarah Boyd, MS, RDN:
“The Truth About Sugar: Where It Hides and What to Do About It”
The seminar will take a practical look at sugar in the modern diet, including current intake, how consumption has changed over time, where added sugars commonly hide, how to identify them on food labels and realistic swaps people can make in everyday life. The seminar will conclude with an open Q&A, giving attendees an opportunity to ask a Registered Dietitian their own
nutrition questions.
Both events are free and open to the community. Advance registration is encouraged at boyd athletics.com/grand-opening.
“We want the grand opening to give people an opportunity to come inside, meet us and see what Boyd Athletics is about,” said Josh Boyd. “Whether someone is experienced in the gym, starting for the first time or simply wants to take better care of their health, we want them to know they have knowledgeable professionals in their corner.”
